What is a hidden halo engagement ring?

Does a hidden halo make the diamond look bigger?
Not wider, and that is the point. Unlike a traditional halo it adds no spread and no busy border, keeping the classic solitaire silhouette. What it adds is light from the profile and a slight lift that stands more of the centre stone clear of the band.
Can a hidden halo be added to any diamond shape?
