Book Your ConsultationThe oval is the most commissioned shape at our atelier, and for good reason. Its elongated silhouette lengthens the finger, its brilliant faceting carries the same fire as a round, and because more of an oval’s weight sits in its face, it looks up to ten percent larger than a round diamond of the same carat. If you want the biggest, brightest look for the budget, this is the shape.
Two things separate a beautiful oval from an ordinary one. The first is the bow tie: a shadow that crosses the centre of poorly cut ovals. Every oval we set is an ideal cut selected to minimise it, and you will see your exact stone on video before it ships. The second is the length to width ratio. Most of our couples choose between 1.35 and 1.45, a classic proportion that reads elegant rather than narrow, and we will show you the difference in person or on a call before anything is locked in.
Every oval on this page holds a certified lab-grown diamond, D or E colour, VS1 clarity or better, graded by IGI or GIA, hand-crafted into its setting at 150 Edward Street, Brisbane. Prices start at $4,380 with a one carat stone, complete. A two carat oval typically sits between $5,940 and $6,500. Prefer something no one else will ever own? Yes. An oval carries more of its weight in the face of the stone, so it looks up to ten percent larger than a round brilliant of the same carat, and its elongated shape stretches further across the finger. It is the shape we recommend most often for maximising presence per dollar.
A dark bow tie shaped shadow that appears across the centre of poorly cut ovals. It cannot be avoided entirely, but an ideal cut keeps it faint. We hand-select every oval to minimise the bow tie, and you receive a video of your exact stone before it ships.
Most of our couples choose between 1.35 and 1.45, the classic proportion that elongates without looking narrow. Below 1.3 an oval reads rounder; above 1.5 it becomes dramatic and finger lengthening. There is no wrong answer, and we will show you both in person before you decide.
Our oval rings start at $4,380 with a one carat certified lab-grown diamond, complete. A two carat oval typically sits between $5,940 and $7,150 depending on the setting and metal, a figure several times lower than the equivalent mined stone.
