No shape makes a carat work harder than the marquise. Its pointed, boat-shaped outline spreads more face-up surface per carat than any other cut, so a one carat marquise looks dramatically larger than a one carat round, and its long axis draws the eye down the finger in a way nothing else can. It is a shape with history, commissioned in eighteenth century France, and a shape with a point of view. Nobody chooses a marquise by accident.

The craft is in the details. A well cut marquise needs clean symmetry between its two points and enough depth through the centre to avoid the bow tie shadow that troubles cheaper stones; every marquise we set is an ideal cut selected for both, E or F colour, VS1 clarity or better, certified by IGI or GIA. The two points are the most delicate part of any pointed shape, so our settings protect each one in a claw as standard. You will see your exact stone on video before it goes near the bench.
