01 · The hands
40+ years of craft at the bench
Behind every Orlaithea piece is a small team of master jewellers with more than 40 years of combined experience at the bench. Nick Ireland, our master craftsman, has spent the better part of his career designing for a highly selective clientele, working with rare coloured diamonds and some of the most exclusive gems in the world. That knowledge sits at the core of how we make today.
This isn't a kind of skill that can be rushed or replaced. It's measured in decades. In hands that know exactly how a stone wants to sit, how a setting will sit on a finger ten years from now, and which compromises are quietly worth refusing.

02 · The workshop
Made on Edward Street, Brisbane
Our workshop sits on Edward Street in the heart of Brisbane. It's where every Orlaithea piece is designed, cast, set, and finished. Not outsourced, not assembled elsewhere, not flown in. Made here, by us, every time.
Keeping everything under one roof means we maintain complete control over every stage — from sketch to final polish. It also means that when you visit, the people you meet are the same people who will be making your piece.
03 · The process
Every stage, in-house
From the first hand-drawn sketch to the final detail, every step happens within our walls.
- Design. Sketched by hand alongside you, then rendered in CAD so you can see every angle before it's made.
- Diamond selection. Each stone is viewed in person, under natural light, and held before it's chosen.
- Wax and casting. Done in our workshop. Nothing is sent away.
- Setting. The diamond is set by our master jewellers, by hand, under magnification.
- Finishing. Polished, refined, and quality-checked in the same room it was started in.
This is rare in modern fine jewellery. Most houses outsource at least one stage — often more. We don't.
Why this matters
Full control. No middlemen.
When design and manufacture sit in the same place, the small decisions are made by people who care. Every quality check is done by the people whose name is on the piece. Every revision is one conversation away. Nothing gets lost in translation between studio, casting house, and bench.
It's slower than the alternative. It's also why our work feels the way it does.
04 · The relationship
Direct, not through a counter
You won't be passed between salespeople. You'll work directly with our head designer and, often, with the master jeweller who will be making your piece.
It's the simplest part of how we work, and the part our clients mention most. There's no translation layer between the person you talk to and the person making your ring. Just a conversation, and a piece that comes out of it.

Where is Orlaithea jewellery made?
Every piece is designed and hand-crafted in our Brisbane workshop on Edward Street. No part of the process is outsourced.
Who actually makes the rings?
Our master jewellers, with more than 40 years of combined experience at the bench. Every piece is hand-set and hand-finished by the same people who designed it with you.
How long does it take to make a custom ring?
Most custom rings take 4 to 6 weeks from design sign-off to delivery. Design consultation and revisions usually take 2 to 4 weeks before crafting begins.
Can I see the workshop?
Yes. Our Brisbane workshop and showroom share the same space at 150 Edward Street. Book an appointment and we'll walk you through it.
Do you outsource any part of the process?
No. Design, CAD rendering, casting, setting, polishing, and finishing all happen in-house at our Brisbane workshop.
What happens if my ring needs repair or resizing later?
Because we make every piece in-house, repairs and resizing come back to the same bench that made it. The first resize within 90 days is complimentary.
